Unique orthopaedic leather quality

  • Traditional manufacturing
Much of our orthopaedic leather is manufactured individually by hand in line with the condition of the given leather skin.
  • Pit tanned
This tanning process involves laying the skins in pits with tanning agents of a vegetable origin. The pits are then filled with water in which the tanning agents dissolve. The tanning agents penetrate the skin, thereby binding with collagen fibres and tanning the leather.
  • Purely vegetable tanning
This is the oldest process for manufacturing leather. Purely vegetable substances are used to render the leather durable. More specifically, these are plants that contain the agent tannin.
  • Gentle drying
We stretch our orthopaedic leather over wooden frames where mild, gentle air drying occurs.
  • Manufacturing is in part based on the requirements of the German Medical Products Act (Medizinproduktgesetz)
  • Aniline dying
Aniline leather is a colloquial term for a leather that is exclusively coloured with soluble dyes and exhibits no coverage with a top or pigment coating.
  • Highest quality
Our decades of experience purchasing raw materials of a select provenance ensures premium quality.
