Description

Our formed leather is obtained from southern German cattle and is 100% vegetable tanned. This means that the raw material is carefully selected to ensure a uniform thickness. Tanning is strictly monitored to ensure that it is free of any harmful chemicals. Lightfastness cannot be guaranteed in the case of purely vegetable tanning. This results in a patina after a certain amount of time that makes each piece unique. However, the leather is still a durable and high-quality material that is kind to the skin. “Partially tanned” means that the cowhide was not completely tanned and, consequently, has a very stiff and firm quality, similar to parchment leather. “Tanned” means that the leather is completely tanned. Formed leather is also suitable for the production of knife sheaths and for use in leather shafts in orthopaedic applications.
